Specialist Consultant Dermatologist·Sydney
"Science-backed skin care, without the sales pressure."Dr. Yvonne Nguyen
Before medicine, I completed a pharmacy degree with First Class Honours and worked as a registered pharmacist, including part-time throughout medical school. That grounding in how drugs work informs every treatment decision I make, not by habit or trend, but because the evidence supports it and because it makes sense for the person in front of me.
I first became interested in dermatology during a scholarship elective at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York. What stayed with me was how much careful clinical examination alone could tell you. That approach, looking closely and thinking clearly, is still central to how I practise.
My training took me across Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Vietnam. I completed a research degree focused on vulval dermatology, trained at some of Australia's busiest teaching hospitals, and was selected for a fellowship at University College Hospital London. I also spent time at the HCMC Dermatology & Venereology Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, which has both a professional and personal significance for me.
I was awarded Fellowship of the Australasian College of Dermatologists in 2022 and have been in independent specialist practice since.
I see patients at Northern Sydney Dermatology in Northbridge, Central Sydney Dermatology on Macquarie Street in the Sydney CBD, and online via Virtual Dermatology, so wherever you are in Australia, you can access a specialist consultation without leaving home.
I'm a native Vietnamese speaker. Outside of medicine I'm kept busy by my young family, a love of reading, and any chance to travel.
Every patient I see, I see personally.
Completed with First Class Honours. A grounding in pharmacology and drug science that established a career-long commitment to evidence-based treatment selection over trend-driven protocols.
Following graduation, practiced as a registered pharmacist, including part-time during medical school from 2011 to 2014, before relinquishing registration upon completing her medical degree in 2015. The clinical grounding in pharmacology has remained integral to her practice ever since.

During medical school, Dr Nguyen was awarded two international scholarships: a two-month dermatology elective at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York, an experience that cemented her passion for dermatology, and a four-week medical elective at Bach Mai Hospital in Hanoi, Vietnam, supported by the Hoc Mai Foundation.
Broad clinical exposure across emergency medicine, general medicine, and surgical specialties, where early and formative encounters with complex dermatological presentations shaped a clear specialty direction. During her residency year, Dr Nguyen undertook a dermatology observership at the HCMC Dermatology & Venereology Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Postgraduate research focused on vulval dermatology, culminating in publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at national and international conferences.
